What color is your current state of mind?

Posted on Dec 18th, 2007 by nofixedstars : assisted serendipity nofixedstars
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 18, 2007:

my current state of mind is green---heart chakra green, emerald green, fields of waving grass green, candle-lit fir tree green. despite the stresses of the season (financial and otherwise), despite having no nights out all month because the ex is out of the country and thus i have no childcare, despite having been rear-ended by someone who wasn't paying attention last week, i am feeling pretty mellow. i am calm, and full of love, and even moderately self-accepting. i can't explain this at all. i have been hemorrhaging money, even ordering myself a new coat which i swore i wouldn't do. i have to spend several days this week at my parents' house. i've hardly seen my friends for weeks, let alone any lovers. my ex has fucked up the visitation for xmas eve and day so badly despite my repeated polite suggestions for a fairer compromise that i seriously thought about getting legal advice for correction; thus, i won't have my daughter with me for xmas eve and won't get her back until after 2pm. if you think i'm unhappy about this, you should hear her comments...someone who had better things to do than watch the road did $1600 worth of damage to my car and gave me moderate whiplash. (fortunately i won't be paying for any of it, obviously.) i have a sinus infection again. and yet, and yet, i feel chipper. i love yuletide! it's the first xmas in our new home. i don't know why they coined the concept of "green with envy", because for me green is the color of contentment.

I was pink and fuzzy dryer lint State of Mind… Green is a much better color, especially when I think about the pretty branches I got from the Christmas tree lot for only $2! They smell happy that I brought them home and turned them into a 'tree in a vase'!  Christmas doesn't have to cost alot and it doesn't have to happen on Christmas Day even though the expectation is that everyone get together and endure each other. I hope that you and your daughter get to spend a “Together Day' all to yourselves that you make special! Start a new tradition in your house that Christmas happens on the Day Before New Year's! That'll mess up the ex!

you're fecking brilliant, as always! love your idea…and yes, we do get a good bit of time to celebrate with just us. we do the 12 days o' xmas, starting on the solstice (roughly) and/or the 21st. so it gets spread out and les bon temps roulez for quite a while.

Yay! The Twelve Days of Christmas! That's a great idea! The solstice was yesterday I believe. Mom got together with a couple of her friends to celebrate it. So what things do you do instead of the Partridge In A Pear Tree thing? Do you bake cookies one day? Then make Origami the next? You could make your Christmas tree ornaments with Origami! That would be cool! Or string popcorn? Watch Christmas movies? Oh I wish that my Christmas was simple on David's side of the family tree! We were going to get out of the Hixson family Christmas driving up 2 hours to their house. Baby Hunter was born and part of the family couldn't be leaving the house with a brand new baby! I LOVE baby Hunter because he got us out of the Christmas traveling. But now, David's mom has set up a large Christmas gathering at her house. Damn! Instead of a simple Mom, David, and I we've got family that is barely family and barely gets along all in a tiny condo. Leave it to an ex or a sweet little mom in law to mess up Christmas!
