What are you addicted to?

Posted on Jan 14th, 2008 by nofixedstars : assisted serendipity nofixedstars
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 14, 2008:

oh dear goddess, to what am i NOT addicted?

dark chocolate
sex, men ( i think those are the same thing)
my bed
color
music
clean air
linen sheets
pretty knickers
books
movies
quiet
laziness
beer
luxury goods
handbags and shoes, judging from my closet
holding babies
indian food
hot water (hot tubs, hot springs, baths)
my best friend
tea (not coffee, though i like it too; only tea)
flirting
learning
sleeping
jewelry
my ipod

thankfully, i've not had any major chemical addictions. i used to smoke a bit, but not so much or so long that i had any problem quitting when i wanted to. i'm getting better about refusing the free drinks too.  i'm not really addicted to sugar, or caffeine, or painkillers, or recreational drugs. happy pills (ssri's and the like) make me vomit, which sort of ruins the anti-depressant effect they are intended to have. i was addicted to a man once, but i got over that. (ahem.) "might as well face it, you're addicted to love..."

guilty as charged.

Oh that's a good list! Mine wasn't quite as long… addiction to caffeine that I kicked on Dec 17th and addiction to being the center of attention. I wasn't really thinking things thru though and have an addiction to my bed and the pile of pillows on it. Also the 'fuzzy blanket of life' that is my electric blanket that I'm under as I type! And much, MUCH, more!

I've never had linen sheets! Are they amazing?

yes, yes! linen is better than silk, in my book. costly, but last a lifetime unless you spill tea & chocolate on them regularly, like me…hmmm.

OMG…..I thought linen sheets were sheets with lines drowed……..thanks for explaining Ann.
Need more help translating:  Amber……..are you sure you are under a blanket?  do you put iton your heat? or you are on the blanket, sitting on it?  I find both weird places to put it anyway. Let me know please.

yeah, english is the most fucked-up language ever. linen is fabric made from flax (linea).  as opposed to lined fabric, which could mean either fabric with lines printed on it OR fabric that has more fabric sewn to it as a backing…and amber's blanket is one of those bed blankets that has a cord you plug in and it heats up little wires inside the blanket fabric, making it really warm. in old houses with crummy heat (my old situation), or new houses that you can't afford to heat (my current situation), they can be wonderful to have. she is probably sitting under it, all wrapped up and cozy.
